Recently I've realized that in this crazy life you have to learn to appreciate the simple pleasures in every day. No matter how rough things may get, there is always a beacon of hope just around the corner, you just have to look for it. People so often neglect to acknowledge the little every day things that make living life worth while. It's amazing how healing simple things can be if you let them.
After a rough weekend, I was able to just take a step back last night and hangout with some good friends. I watched the sunset from the jetty and sat in awe as the sky melted into the ocean and created a water color canvas. My friend turned and looked at me and said, "tough life we have, huh?" And I just smiled, because just a day before I was in tears over something that in that moment didn't matter anymore. Something as simple as the sunset made me see that if you can get joy out of the simple pleasures in life, nothing can be that bad. We went to the beach at 11pm and just talked, laughed, and listened to music. It's moments like this that I wish I had a pause button so I could savor it for just a little bit longer. What really struck me though was how beautiful the sky was last night, the stars, the moon, the crisp night air, it all was picturesque. In that moment I was able to seek comfort in the beauty of the night sky and company of friends, that life didn't seem so bad anymore. It made me realize that there is beauty everywhere, in the night sky, in the company of good friends, and the more you learn to appreciate these things the better your life will be.
Don't take the little things for granted, because someday you'll realize they were the big things. Staying out on the beach till midnight and feeling happy and loved, watching the sunsets every night, gazing up at the sky, those moments are priceless. Find the little moments in your life that put a smile on your face, because they are everywhere. Life gets difficult sometimes and you will feel like you've hit rock bottom, but you'll be surprised by how much embracing some of the little things can turn your life around.
When was the last time you stopped to enjoy the little moments in your life? Soak them up while you have the chance.
Love Always,
Olivia Jane
