Remember To Believe.

I remember this time of year when I was a little kid. The month of December was always the most magical month of the year, and each day was one day closer to my favorite day of the year, Christmas. And it still is a wonderful and magical time, but it's not the same as it was during my childhood. When you're a kid, you believe in everything and it's so innocent and pure. Kids everywhere believe in Santa and the spirit of Christmas, but eventually that belief goes away and the magic dies along with it. I know at 19 years old the Santa secret is long gone, but that doesn't mean that there is nothing else to believe in.
I miss the genuine nature and innocence of childhood. I miss not being able to sleep on Christmas Eve because I knew Santa would be coming down the chimney to eat the milk and cookies I left him. Everything was easier then, and everything was so much more exciting. You believed in magic and you believed in the good in the world. You believed things simply because you were told they were true.

But who says there is nothing to believe in anymore? Believing in something makes life worth while. First and foremost, believe in yourself. If you believe in yourself, who you are, and what you stand for, then you can never go wrong. When you believe in yourself then others will begin to believe in you as well.

Believe in your dreams. Never doubt yourself and your potential. Believe that everything happens for a reason and that things will always work out. Believe in happiness and never let go of it. I feel like people are scared to believe in things because they don't want to be let down. But honestly sometimes that's a part of life. Don't be afraid to put your heart and soul into something and believe in it with all your heart. Believe in your friends, show them how much you love them. Believe in whatever it is that keeps you alive and don't stop no matter what.

I believe that people are good at heart. I believe that the sun will always come up again, no matter how dark and gloomy the nights get. I believe that my friends are the best gift I could ever receive and that no item could replace the love I have for them. I believe that life has a way of giving you exactly what, or who, you need at the perfect moment. I believe there is no such thing as perfect and that the key to life is happiness. I believe in you and I believe in myself. Laughter, smiling at strangers, warm and long hugs, poetry, crying, music, I believe in all of these things and so many more.

You are never too old to believe. Find whatever or whoever it is that you are passionate about and simply believe. Bring magic back into your life, embrace your inner child. If you ask me, life was a whole lot happier and simpler before crap started getting in the way of our dreams. Who's to say you can't get that feeling on Christmas Eve back? I hope that you find something to believe in this year, because it makes this crazy life a lot more worth while.

What do you believe in?

Love Always,
Olivia Jane
