Not all those who wander are lost.

With college inching closer and closer, my whole future seems to be right on the horizon. Though I am ecstatic to begin this chapter of my life, I have to admit I have no clue where my life is going to go, and that's a bit scary. However one of my favorite quotes has provided me with a bit of comfort,  "If you don't know where you're going, you might end up somewhere else."

So often these days people find themselves planning out every aspect of their lives, and then being heartbroken when they fail or when their wildest dreams do not come true. However, sometimes what you think you want, and what you actually need are two vastly different things. You will end up where you need to be, no matter how long it may take. If you don't know where you are going, or what you want, then you leave your life open to endless opportunities. The greatest things usually come when you least expect them, in places you never thought you would find them. People are obsessed with the idea of always knowing what's ahead of them, but in reality no one knows what life has in store, you just have to hang on and enjoy the ride.

I think what people need in order to end up where they are meant to be is to have a little faith. Just because your life isn't how you pictured it doesn't mean that it isn't going to be great. Take a step back and enjoy the wild roller coaster of life and see where you end up. The best things in life take time, it could take weeks, months, years, but eventually you will end up somewhere you couldn't have ever imagined and it will be everything you have been waiting for. Now I'm not saying don't have goals, because everyone should have hopes and goals and dreams, however if you're feeling lost and your dreams don't work out, you shouldn't worry because fate has a way of making come together in the end. Have faith that you will end up exactly where you are meant to be, and that you will be happy.

I find that too often the things we want for ourselves are different from the things we need that will make us happy. You may think that if you get this dream job life will be grand, and then you don't get it and are crushed. But because of that you got another job and are successful and meet great people and even fall in love, and if you had gotten your original wish none of these wonderful things would have happened. Maybe I am over exaggerating a bit, but it is just the concept that everything happens for a reason and each of us has our own secret plan that is unfolding by the day. Don't test fate, remember that life has a way of giving us what we need at the most unexpected times. Leave your past behind you and press forward, and if you have absolutely no clue where you are going, good for you. I've learned that being lost isn't really a bad thing, you feel lost because you've been detached from your normal life and self, but now you have the opportunity to stumble upon something greater. And no one can be lost forever, sooner or later you will wander into something life changing, you just have to be patient.

So my advice is stop taking everything so damn seriously. Stop living your life according to schedules and plans. Let yourself live with a sense of wonder and adventure. Don't be set back by your failures and disappointments because it just means that something better is coming along. Quit being so fascinated with where you are going in life, just live it, and if you spend more time doing that then you will end up somewhere you could have never imagined. Don't be afraid to end up somewhere else, after all, life begins at the end of your comfort zone. So step out of your comfort zone and the little box you've been living in and live, the possibilities are endless. Forget about where you are going, let life take it's course and live it to the fullest, and maybe you will be surprised where you end up.
