As a girl in today's world I am sick of the media and magazines telling me what I should look like, as long as I am happy with myself that's all that matters. Someone shouldn't have to change themselves to be considered beautiful. Take a stand and say "fuck you" to the pressures to be perfect, because real beauty is all that matters and it's time people start recognizing that. Let's start a "be yourself challenge" and just accept people for what they look like and who they are. Since when did being yourself become overpowered by being "thin?" Healthiness should be promoted above everything else. Girls everywhere are starving themselves and developing eating disorders and running until they pass out, all for what? So society will think they're "pretty?" It's time someone stands up and says that it's okay if your thighs touch and if you can't see your ribs. The world would be a dull place if everyone looked the same.
The shame and unrealistic standards need to end now. How many more of these crazy challenges is it going to take for society to realize they are causing harm? All of these stupid body shaming trends are triggering for those who struggle with body image and just make people hate themselves. People wonder why girls these days have such low self esteem and depression problems, when the facts speak for themselves. Living in a world where you are constantly deemed not good enough is draining. I'm here to say that being who you are and being happy is beautiful and sexy, regardless of what size jeans your are.
Are you fed up with these body shaming trends? Join me in tearing down society's definition of beauty, and promote the idea that healthiness is beautiful. When you open a magazine instead of saying "I wish I looked like that," how about saying, "wow she's gorgeous, but so am I." Accept your body and love it instead of hurting and ridiculing it, because you only have one. So fuck beauty standards, I'm beautiful in my own way and so is everybody else.
