Being in a new environment has brought me so many new adventures and experiences. It has made me realize the importance of taking risks, being bold, and putting yourself out there. Nothing in life comes easily, and things aren't just going to happen to you, you have to go out there and make things happen. All the magic happens the second you step out of your comfort zone, so what are you waiting for?
It's easy to go day by day and go through the motions, but in order to get the most out of your life you have to put yourself out there. The first couple of days here it's easy to just stay in your room and hide, but that's not going to do anything positive for you. I'm an outgoing person, but even I get nervous to meet new people and be in new social situations. But I keep telling myself that I just have to be bold and it will be rewarding in the end. I've talked to people and done things totally out of my comfort zone, and that's what life is about! I don't want to play it safe, I want to live in the edge and experience everything life has to offer. Go to parties, strike up a conversation, sit down to lunch with strangers, join a club, all of these things are ways to get out there.
Being bold is so important in life. It's not easy, but it's worth it. Say and do crazy things, make people notice and remember you. Not only that, but being yourself alone is one of the boldest things you can do. It's so hard to be yourself in a world that's constantly trying to change you. I've struggled with being myself my whole life. I was always thinking "what if they think I'm weird?" or "what if they don't like me?", but then I realized who the hell cares!? I respect people who are themselves because it is one of the biggest risks you can take. Choosing to stay true to who you are no matter what is so crucial. I've noticed that once you decide to be your truest self and love yourself, and you show that to the world, the world will love you right back. So far at school I've truly made an effort to be real and my natural self and it has been so amazing. I have found people who like me for me, and so will you. Create a life you love and do things that scare the living shit out of you. I don't want to look back with regrets, I want to look back on good times and stories and know that I had adventures and took risks.
Have goals and dreams and set them high. Be impulsive and curious. Stop tip toeing around your life and walk with confidence towards the future. Boldness matters. There are so many opportunities awaiting you if you have the courage to look for them. Nothing will be handed to you, you have to go out and find it yourself. One of my favorite quotes is "freedom lies in being bold." The second you decide to be daring and bold, you will be set free. Claim your life and your freedom and just fucking enjoy the ride. Break out of the norm and challenge everything. Dare to be bold, you won't regret it.
What's holding you back? How can you be bold?
Love Always,
Olivia Jane
